The iconic children’s colourful cartoon character Elmer the Elephant was the theme for the carpet bed at Ipswich this year. Elmer is an elephant with rainbow and white squares arranged as a patchwork. He has a cheerful and optimistic personality, and he loves practical jokes.
Elmer celebrates 30 Years this year. The carpet bed was part of Ipswich’s Elmer the Elephant art trail which featured 55 individually designed elephants based on the much loved children’s character. Over 15 varieties of carpet bedding were used to create the design with each colour of the patchwork pattern being represented by a different variety.
